IG27 appoints three new trustees: David Williams CB, Adam Nunn, and Phil Batty OBE
Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to its Board: David Williams CB, Adam Nunn and Phil Batty OBE. Together they bring extensive experience across public service, major events, communications, and governance as preparations continue for the Games in July 2027.
David Williams joins the Board following a distinguished career in public service, including as Permanent Under-Secretary at the Ministry of Defence from April 2021 to November 2025. His career has spanned defence, health and local government, including senior leadership roles during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Adam Nunn brings more than two decades of experience with Omnicom Media, where he has worked with leading global brands including Apple, Sony Pictures, Visit London, Audi and Unilever. Alongside his professional career, Adam is a committed community fundraiser, sports coach and Mental Health First Aider, with a strong passion for the role of sport in supporting wellbeing and building resilient communities.
Phil Batty joins the Board with significant expertise in major event delivery and social impact. He is currently Chief Executive Officer of the Glasgow Commonwealth Games 2026 and previously served as Director of Ceremonies, Culture and Queen’s Baton Relay for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games. His experience also includes leading international event programmes as CEO of SKYMAGIC and serving in senior roles connected to the UK City of Culture programme and Spirit of 2012.
The Board will also be joined by Mark Lee-Amies from 1st October 2026, when he will take on the role of Chair of the Audit and Risk committee. Mark was previously a Senior Audit Partner at Deloitte, and member of their Audit Executive, and brings extensive financial, governance and risk management expertise. Mark is also a Trustee of 40Tude, an innovative UK health charity dedicated to curing colon (bowel) cancer by championing early detection, raising public awareness, and funding primary medical research.
