Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 Appoints The Bulb as Sustainability Consultancy

Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 is proud to announce the appointment of The Bulb as our sustainability consultancy for the 2027 Games. This appointment represents a significant step in our commitment to deliver the Invictus Games 2027 that places sustainability and community at its heart.

Sustainability is a fundamental and we are committed to delivering an event that not only supports the health and recovery of competitors and their families but also delivers wider positive impact for local communities and the planet.

As the appointed sustainability consultancy for Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, The Bulb will work in close collaboration with our team to shape and implement a sustainability strategy that is ambitious and transparent. This approach will extend well beyond carbon measurement; addressing wider environmental impacts, driving positive social outcomes, and enabling meaningful knowledge exchange. A key focus will be on creating long-term impact - sharing learnings and best practice, and enabling innovation.

The Bulb team brings extensive expertise in sustainability for major events. Director of Sustainability, Selina Donald, and Sustainability Consultant, Meg Strahle, will lead the work, supported by strategic advisor David Stubbs, former Head of Sustainability for the London Olympics in 2012. They will work in close collaboration with Jules Merrison, Sustainability Lead for Invictus Games Birmingham 2027.

Helen Helliwell, CEO of Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 commented, Sustainability is not a box to tick for these Games - it’s a fundamental part of how we plan and deliver. We’re excited to be working with such experienced and value-driven people to help us explore new ideas and create real social and environmental impact. Our collaboration with The Bulb gives us the confidence and capability to deliver something ambitious, authentic, and lasting.

More information will be shared in the coming months as the sustainability programme develops. If you or your organisation would like to contribute to this work or explore ways to collaborate, please contact Jules Merrison on jules.merrison@invictusgames2027.org.
