600 days until Invictus Games Birmingham 2027

With just 600 days to go until Invictus Games Birmingham 2027, we are proud to announce Full Circle – a 2,000-nautical-mile sailing expedition around the UK, crewed by 70 wounded, injured or sick (WIS) serving personnel and veterans. Together, they will carry the Invictus Games flag around all four nations, marking this important milestone on the road to Birmingham in July 2027.

Turn to Starboard, a veteran sailing charity that supports those affected by service through recovery-focused sail training and maritime opportunities, will lead the expedition in partnership with Invictus Games Birmingham 2027.

The Invictus Games flag, currently embarked on HMS Prince of Wales with the UK Carrier Strike Group, will return to the UK in December before being handed to the Turn to Starboard crew to sail on the Full Circle expedition.

Captain Lee Hazard RN, Deputy Director Programmes and Impact Delivery for Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 said: "With the Invictus Games flag on board, these remarkable veterans led by Turn to Starboard will sail with purpose and skill, showing us all the transformative power of teamwork on an epic adventure around the United Kingdom, before the flag continues to Birmingham for the Games in July 2027."

Sally Terry, CEO of Turn to Starboard said: “Full Circle brings the spirit of Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 to the sea, uniting veterans through challenge, camaraderie and adventure. This voyage will shine a light on their courage, resilience and the life-changing impact of opportunity.”

The 12-week voyage will begin on 17 March 2026 in Falmouth, travelling anticlockwise around the UK before returning on 11 June 2026, just over one year before the Games begin. As excitement builds, planning is well advanced to deliver an inclusive, impactful and world-class Invictus Games for competitors, families, and communities.
