Tim James OBE
DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PARTNERS & PARTICIPATING NATIONS
Tim is a serving British Army infantry officer who joins the 2027 Invictus Games team on a 2-year secondment. Over a varied career he has completed multiple tours of Afghanistan, Iraq and Bosnia and has spent 4 years serving in the USA, including a year at the US’ Central Command. Specialising in Strategic Communications, the last decade has seen him employed in a wide range of roles including the planning and delivery of the commemorations to mark the 75th anniversaries of D-Day, VE and VJ Day, the funeral of the Duke of Edinburgh and the introduction of Armed Forces Week. He was awarded an OBE in 2022 for his work on these events.
Tim has also spent several years involved with the Invictus Games as part of Team UK, initially as the communications lead and later as the Chief of Staff to the Head of Delegation for Invictus UK. He attended the Sydney Games in 2018 and played a central role in the planning and delivery of the Invictus UK Trials in Sheffield in 2019.
Outside of work he is a coach for his local cricket team in Gloucestershire and, at long last, a very happy Tottenham Hotspur supporter.
